Somali Pirates - On a Jihad

In August 2008, when the pirates became especially active off the Horn of Africa, Andrew Mwangura, head of the East African Seafarers’ Assistance Programme, declared that Al-Shabaab, a group of jihadists in Somalia, use piracy to fund their jihad: “According to our information, the money they make from piracy and ransoms goes to support al-Shabaab activities onshore.”

What many people don't know is that Somalia is a Muslim nation. They follow the Shari'a Law. This means women have to cover up, face genital mutilations, and all the other things that following Shari'a means.

Then there are the bleeding heart who wring their hands and say that the pirates are just misunderstood. That they have to be treated with respect. That a dialog should be established.

Anyone who knows anything about Jihad will know that all of these strategies are considered weakness and are to be exploited.

The only solution is to sink any boat that comes out of the harbor. For every ship taken, a part of the infrastructure should be taken out. You can keep the attacks away from women and children if notification is not given before each strike. This show of force is the only way to stop the pirates. If not the world can watch as more are taken until someone steps in a takes decisive action.
