It's a Recession Stupid

If it smells like XX, and it looks like XX, and it feels like XX then it is probably XX.

Substitute for XX as required. In this case let's try the word Recession.

Manufacturing is falling
Businesses are being closed and moved offshore
Other businesses are just being closed and people are being laid off
The unemployment rate is rising
Interest rates are falling
Home buying is on the decline
Shoppers are less prevalent are are buying less
The government is bailing out all manner of organizations, typically larger ones, but including banks.

It is becoming as little clearer now?

The business groups are giving us mixed signals.
The government wants to give out borrowed money as a 'stimulus' even after the last one didn't work. They believe we can spend out way out.
The media, generally, are just mindless mouthpieces for the government who want everyone to feel great.
Meanwhile exports are down, imports are down and the government is trying to sell anything it has left.
Businesses are also trying to sell stakes in their operations, primarily to the Chinese.

They might have fudged the Q4 2008 figures but we are in reality, in a recession. Get used to the word because it is only at the leading edge with a lot worse to come.

Of course since Rudd's popularity is still at 74% how stupid does that make the average Australian?

Understanding Chinese

I read letters in the newspapers from people who imply that there is nothing to the Chinese incidents. The buying of tickets, the parties, the business deals etc.

Every time I read one of these I know that the person has never travelled, knows nothing about Asian, Asia or the Chinese.

They are also the kinds of people like almost every Australian business person trying to set up a business in China, they failed because they were conned.

The first thing that Westerners do not understand about the Chinese is that they are long term planners. They have 50 years plans, multi-generational plans. This a society where a martial artist will train for 40 years just to master a single technique. The Western mind cannot understand such dedication. They want results in a couple of years.

The Chinese business mind is similar. They will organize say a spying or information gathering effort that might take 20 years to come to fruition. They will partner an individual with potential prospect that may achieve high goals in the future. This is not a six month undercover operation, this is a life time effort.

A father will work his whole life to ensure that his grandchildren have plenty, taking nothing for himself.

They approach things like contracts and agreements in a completely different way. This is why Westerners are such easy targets. They believe that signing a contract is the whole process.

So they will smile, nod, agree and have plans in motion to take it all either in the short term or the long term it matters not.

Smug, Smug and Smugger

Where to start.

Rudd is walking around like he is King of the world, magnanimously dispensing sage advice.
Joel Fitzgibbon is walking around shrugging his shoulders and asking what's the problem with my Chinese friend?
Julia Gillard is walking around telling everyone to stop worrying about the Chinese and focus on her wonderful IR solutions

They are all fooling themselves and desperately trying to fool us. There is such a cloud of smug over Canberra these days that it makes Prius owners look staid.

Despite this Rudd has 74% popularity rating.

Sorry ran out of words, overwhelmed by the smug.

New Judges and Court System Needed

Watching a program on gang violence and hoons crashing cars the message was quite clear. The court system has failed. Judges are refusing to hand down any sentences so the crime continues. In a recent accident all participants were described as having a long history with the police.

In plainer English this means that the police had grabbed them a number of times for offenses, they had easily used up all their points but were still out driving and causing problems. After each court appearance they were simply back out on the streets to drive again.

It doesn't matter how many times the issue is exposed by some current affairs show on TV, the same things keep happening over, and over, and over again. Somehow Australians need to take back the legal system, get rid of all of the weak, corrupt and liberal judges and start punishing criminals and those that break the laws.

In our system the judges are subject to no oversight so they can do what they want. What the government needs to do is implement no argument minimum sentencing laws and if a judge gives too many at the minimum level they should be subject to review and replaced or removed.

Chances that this is going to happen? About zero.

UN HR Rule Passed - No More 'Criticism' of Islam

It's done the UN passes resolution calling for criminalization of criticism of Islam. The UN Human Rights Council voted and won with 23 out of the 47 votes. This included 11 (primarily Western) nations opposed and 13 cowards abstaining. Note that the US is not a member of this council, one dominated by Muslim and African nations.

What is means is that technically it will be impossible to have any honest examination of Islam because "incitement to religious hatred" includes acts like quoting the Koran verses that Jihadists use to justify their actions. The resolution ignores individual rights like those of freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

What this resolution is removes the rights from the individuals and places it in the hands of Islam and the Muslims. The so called UN Human Rights council has many Muslim nations that have specifically argued that religions, in particular Islam, must be shielded from criticism in the media and other areas of public life. They have given examples like those of cartoons of Mohammad as being example of unacceptable free speech.

"Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism," the resolution said. You might want to read that sentence again.

If implemented it could lead to accusations of defamation among different faiths. It also leaves the non-Muslim nations both silent and so defenceless in the face of the current global jihad. The resolution was proposed by Pakistan, the Janus of the Muslim world. As India's Ambassador Gopinathan Achamkulangare correctly pointed out, the resolution "inappropriately" linked religious criticism to racism.

So will Australia have the guts to stand up to this? Given Rudd's current track record of bending over backwards for anything UN any protest is unlikely.

Enemies of the Truth - Growing List

The following people have been identified as enemies of the truth. To be classified as such means that they are saying things that are based on hearsay or unverified sources. (Think Jenin Massacre)

No More Faults - Just Empathy

If you have been paying attention over say the past ten years you would have noticed something.

In the past if someone did something wrong they were punished for it in some way. The punishment would have matched the crime or issue to some extent, lessons would have been learned and behaviour modified.

In the new world we empathize, contextualize, sensationalize and explain every kind of behaviour away in some manner. Instead of punishment we make excuses. He is not a monster, he has a family, it was a tragedy for all involved. The language makes excuses for the behaviour.

The language is made up by out of touch individuals who often live in very privileged positions, behind walls of position and wealth. Reality is replaced by euphemism, standards are dropped or removed altogether and everyone becomes the same even when they are not.

When it comes to the law, education and social matters there are qualifies issued based on race, gender or class. The rules, norms and protocols are abandoned because they are 'too hard' for to poor people who are different.

The liberal higher education official stands up and talks about diversity then hops in their Benz and drives home to the opulent house in the hills. The really lazy ones hide behind multiculturalism which allows them to do what every they want. They no longer have to do any real teaching or assessing, just cite from the standard set of platitudes. They have become the classical apparatchik, calling each other comrade and all the same under the flag of diversity.

It has allowed people like Gore and Arafat to get a 'peace' prize and has cheapened our education establishments. Excellence is no longer the standard. Does the best peace person get the peace prize or the best journalist the Pulitzer?

About the only place you can find merit based achievement these days is in sport. Does our football teams demand that 15% of the team be Asian, 20% Aboriginal and 15% Middle Eastern? Sounds strange but we apply these kinds of requirements, regardless of merit, to so many other areas of our society.

Mohammad Khatami - Moderate Muslim

At last we can use a individual as the measure of a 'moderate Muslim.' The Mainstream press and other advocates are referring to ex President Mohammad Khatami of Iran as a "moderate" and as a "reformer."

This man, giving talks in Australia at La Trobe University, has a long history that can now be used to set the standard for a moderate.

He was the Minister for Culture and Islamic Guidance during the 1988 massacre of 30,000 people. As President he gave the order to suppress protesting students in 1998. He approved terrorist attacks and the attack on the opposition parties and people seemed to disappear during his time if they criticized the government.

A Canadian journalist was arrested, raped , tortured and killed in 2003. He banned newspapers, harassed and killed religious minorities. He persecuted anyone criticizing Islam and implemented the Clerics are the supreme authority. Those who did not lost their civil rights. In other words he systematically abused what many would call basic human rights.

So this is our standard for a moderate Muslim and what we are hoping that all Muslims will be and demonstrate.

At the same time it also highlights how many Middle Eastern studies departments have sprung up in Australian universities as a response to the 'generous' donations from Saudi Arabia. The heads of these departments are more often than not, from the Middle East and are Muslims. These individuals fully support people like Mohammad Khatami and are active in the creation of 'equality' and religious vilification commissions and tacitly support the introduction if Sharia law and the spread of Islam within Australia.

Ironically our leadership and many from the socialist left see no problems with this.

Victoria - Where 'Equality' Means None

There has been a very disturbing trend in Victoria over the past few years where basic rights have been eroded over time and minorities are represented over the rest.

Take the latest case of Rachida Dahlal. This Victoria University student is a devout Muslim, complete with head scarf. No problem so far.

She has recently been refused a training placement at a Christian school in Werribee. The reasoning for the refusal is that as a devout Muslim she would have been uncomfortable working at a school where there are regular Bible readings and prayer for the teachers. Also as a Muslim she is not allowed to represent the beliefs of another religion. Again this is reasonable, since under Islam those of other faiths are not allowed to have any outwards signs of their religions around Muslims.

As allowed in Victoria Dahlal immediately contacted the Equal Opportunity Commission to complain about the Heathdale Christian College accusing it of discrimination and prejudice.

After having to pay out lots of money in defense while Dahlal pays none this case will of course be found in favour of the college. Or will it if Victoria has its way?

Deputy Premier and Attorney-General Rob Hulls have announced a review of the exceptions and exemptions in the Equal Opportunity Act because of the Human Rights Charter. The charter of course refers to freedom of religion, conveniently ignored in this case.

To make this as one sided as possible they have asked Associate Professor Elizabeth Gaze to aid in the inquiry. Gale has stated publicly "Religious susceptibilities should not be able to be protected in situations where the offence to them would be small and the effect on the person affected would be serious."

Australia - Already a Republic

Australia must already be a republic and somehow the rest of us missed it.

Having thrown off the shackles of influence from England the Governor General of the Labor party has African nations convinced that she either is the head of or at the very least represents the Rudd government.

The new Minister for Governor General of the Labor party has been representing Labor policies in Namibia and Zambia where they reported that her government is eager to support their efforts to improve maternal health. Yes that was indeed her government.

If I was the Liberal party leadership I'd be standing up and declaring that they will be petitioning the Queen to have the Rudd representative removed from office.

Illegal Aliens - Everyone Welcome under Labor

Every illegal alien or immigrant that enters Australia is a vote for Rudd and the Labor party.

They get support, legal aid, a new house, a guaranteed job and all the cues they need to be grateful for the beneficent government.

So that is one side of the equation. The other side is that every new arrival is a drain on limited resources. That includes clean water, job slots, available housing, jail space and any other resource that is required to support an individual within Australia.

The biggest issue facing Australia today is population. That our government cannot or will not acknowledge this is disturbing and just incurs more costs on all taxpayers within Australia. Sadly, since it appears that such policies are there to encourage voting, they are unlikely to be changed.

Rudd, the Ultimate Diplomat

So off he goes, the PM of a small country slipping into recession and debt. His mission? To tell the great world leaders including President (Carter) Obama and the G20 what they should be doing about their own economies and the world downturn.

This from the man who wants to create an Asian alliance with Australia in the lead. The man who loves China so much that he is willing to sell off pieces of Australia to that country. The man who really seems to understand nothing about international affairs and foreign countries. He certainly understand nothing of Islam and economic policies.

He and the party he represents certainly knows a lot about and supports putting a country into debt and have it being overrun with unions.

This man is going to have the recommendations for how other countries can get them selves out of a recession and debt. He is also going to agree to more troops in Afghanistan, troops that have no aerial (maned or unmanned) support.

What a guy. Certainly a legend in his own mind.

Airport Security, Not - *Updated*

So you can turn up to an airport, start a huge fight, kill someone and then casually catch a taxi. All without any kind of security turning up.

The response from the authorities "police cannot be everywhere."

What! So our airports have no security service and it would take such a long time to respond to any problem. This must be sending out a wonderful message to terrorists, "Come and attack an Australian airport, we have no security. Really, you will not be caught."

There is so much wrong with the official responses to this incident that it hardly needs any comment.

--- Update ---

Not to be found in the main stream media reports of course but the names of some of the people involved in the incident are now available: Ismail Erdem, Maher Aouli, Pomare Pirini, and Zoran Kisacanin. Notice anything here?

Heaven forbid that this gets widely reported, it will violate the niceness of multiculturalism con the left sympateticos have going.

Islam versus Muslim

Islam is very clear about the penalties for mistreating a Muslim by a Muslim.

Enter Khadija Abdul Qahar, a Muslim convert and journalist once known as Beverly Giesbrecht.

Start by visiting her website www.jihadunspun.com/IslamUnderAttack. It is a good question, what about the war on Muslims? Beverly was captured by Pakistani forces who claim they will cut off her head unless they receive a ransom. Since she is a Muslim this makes this whole situation all the more bizarre.

Since it appears it is the Taliban who have captured her then this is some Muslim on Muslim action. Beheading is a typical response but usually reserved for non-Muslims. Perhaps when it comes to the Taliban it is all about money, particularly since the Taliban are typically Saudi.

Iraq Wants US To Change First

Amazing Iraq where do you start?

First they want the US to drop support for Israel, presumably so that it will make it easier to "drive into the sea."

Then they want to see Sharia Law implemented in the US so that they can spread Islam. Of course initially all they want is all of the old Caliphate land back, including Spain and perhaps a few more countries in Europe.

Of course they will want all non-Muslims to exist in a Dhimmi state. This is where they must pay a special tax, wear designated clothes and be very quiet about worshiping their own religions.

So how will Iraq change in this process? That was not really specified except for opening up a few air routes over the country. What is sure is that they will not be modifying the laws under Sharia, or allowing any changes to the imbalances for women, or allow any homosexuals or metrosexuals for that matter.

And yes, US in the title above means all of us.

Maldives and Junk Science

The seas are rising! Or perhaps the sky is falling.

One groups of scientists has been checking the sea levels in the Maldives and found that they have been dropping. Another group has been checking the sea levels and say that sea levels are rising.

The government of the Maldives has decided to listen to the latter and is spending over $1B to go green to stop this terrible event happening. When you live an average of six feet above sea level you tend to worry about these things.

The first of the above mentioned groups is on the ground in the Maldives checking tide levels and historical deposits and high water marks. They have photographic evidence of the historical levels and can physically show that the levels are dropping or have dropped.

The second group operate at a desk and work of dubious tide data and using models and linear regression analysis to come to their conclusions. Worse "Church, White, and Hunter applied a number of regional ‘corrections’ to the basic tide gauge record and calculated averages of a large region to arrive at their conclusion that sea level was rising in the Maldives."

The only time supporters of the second group ever came to the Maldives to do any physical checking they pulled down a very significant tree because it was proof that their calculations were wrong and they wanted to get rid of the evidence. This is a very well known event, caused by students from an Australia sea-level team, is the height of anti-science and it typifies the "Consensus or Believers" approach to science.

Since the government policy has been decided based on what most would call junk science they are going down a very silly and expensive path.

So who are you more willing to believe; those on the ground doing the actual measurements or those sitting in a room thousands of miles away doing their calculations with computer models and statistical analysis?

Queensland - Living Proof of Inbreeding

So to summarise. The past ten years of Labor government has put Queensland into debt to the tune of about 80 billion dollars. The newly elected version under Bligh (have you noticed how close this is to blight?) is a planning to spend more and put the State even further into debt.

This money will have to be repaid eventually. With declining revenues, less tourists, unemployment rises, less manufacturing and so less income for the State it can only come from one place, the voters.

Bottom line? Queenslanders just voted to put themselves into greater debt and load up their repayments for the next 20 years. This will mean higher taxes and less income.

Of course you have to pay for what you voted for so no sympathy from this Blogger. Suffer.

Cartoons in the Australian

For a while now the cartoons in the Australian were making sense. The main one mostly had some content of humor or it was clever. I looked at the one in today's edition (Sat) and it had no humor and it wasn't clever.

Instead it was a cynical, sarcastic personal attack on a non-Labor individual. It ignored any of the facts surrounding the issue and used a cartoon format as a thin veil to mask a direct ad-hominem attack.

Yes, Bill Leak is back and the true spirit of cartoons has once again been banished to the shadows.

Julia Fiddles as Australia Burns

So that's the end of Work Choices and based on a 'mandate' from the election Labor has added a bunch of things they did not tell us about and given the Unions and the Workers unprecedented power.

Restaurant prices will have to rise to cover 'new' taxes under the hotel award system putting restaurants out of business as less people can afford to eat out.

Socialism takes a stronger grasp on the lives of average Australians.

All of this is good. Why? Well for a start there are a lot of strangely seduced followers of Labor who still think that "its all good" We need things in Australia to get really bad so that the whole country can hopefully get a big shock when things get really bad and realise that the experiment with Labor when things were going well under the other guys was a really bad choice.

So if they hold Queensland then Kevin will call and earlier election and probably get in for a second term. During that next term he will all but bankrupt Australia, unemployment will hit double figures and probably inflation the same. People will be poor, out of work and screaming for something to change.

Will all of this happen? Perhaps not but Australians have become so complacent that it really would take something shocking to snap them out of their dreamy malaise.

Socialism has failed in every form all around the world. Strangely there are still some woolly headed types that still believe in it and many of them are currently in power in Australia. To quote Pink Floyd we need to "give them a short sharp shock" to snap us away from them.

The Age of Stupid Movie - Must be Idiot to Watch

Its a British climate change (AGW) activist movie about all the bad things that are going to happen to the Earth if we don't all get moving on stopping climate change.

Watching the preview there are images of the Sydney Opera House burning, temperatures hitting 101 Fahrenheit, (so what?), Las Vegas buried in sand (not sure how that happened) and London boiling.

The film should have been titled "Abandon Science All Ye Who Enter Here."

As one film reviewer wrote "The film is so cretinous it makes Michael Moore look like a modern-day Bergman; so scientifically vacuous it makes Lysenko look like Einstein; so achingly middle-class it makes The Good Life look like a kitchen-sink drama about miners’ wives."

What the film does do, and do so well, is to expose the elitism of AGW alarmists that can only spout Armageddon scenarios while ignoring any facts.

The bad guy is the owner of a low budget airline in India who wants poor people to be able to fly (unlike the rich AGW pundits who fly around in their private jets). Given that aviation is estimated to contribute 1.6% of our total greenhouse gas production it is weird that an Indian airline exec is picked as the bad guy. Oh, and he has a total of six airlines but somehow the implication is that he is causing floods in Mumbai.

The hero of the film realises that things are not well when he notices there is less snow on the Bergerac slopes one year (due to retreating glaciers) and turns to building wind farms and ruining his car on chip fat. His capitalism is presented as green so its OK. When one of his farms is rejected by the Bedford Council this also causes floods.

The movie contains all the right words like "tipping point", "The Science", "denial", and "future generations." It is a film that at best dresses up junk science in moralism and is about greed causing the world to turn into a wasteland. It attacks the poorer countries. The solution? A massive system of governance that monitors carbon use, personal freedoms and habits that shares out the misery equally.

It is rubbish and not even very entertaining unless you like to sit down and be told how stupid you are and that you are destroying the planet, through carbon.

Pauline Hanson - Not

One again our intrepid media has published a story, worse one with naked pictures, without checking the facts. In this case it is not surprising, they don't like Pauline Hanson. They didn't ask her about the pictures or if they did they didn't wait for a response.

Experts have now examined the pictures and declared them not to be of Hanson at all, just someone that looks a bit like her. The so called ex-boyfriend is claiming that drugs may have muddled his memories but he is still confident it was her.

She points out that she was married with a child at the time, had short hair and that the nose was all wrong, let along the belly button. I'm waiting to see how long it takes for the media to admit they were wrong. I'm not holding my breath though.

Union Power - Bring It On

So, unions account for about 20% of the workforce. Labor directed by Julia claim that they have a mandate to allow Unions members right of entry to any workplace, to be able to check employee records including the majority being non-union members.

They also have a mandate to change the classification of restaurants to be under the same award as hotels. I wonder if this means adding the mandatory government taxes that hotel restaurants have to pay pushing up the prices of all food and services.

If this was the mandate then bring it on. The sooner that Australians feel the pressure the loss and the pinch then the sooner they will vote out the stupid government that they elected in the first place. For them to have this understanding they will need to suffer.

So Rudd, Gillard and Co., bring it on, pass it all and from the rubble and ashes that becomes Australia some good may come.

The Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) Lobby

Yes the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) lobby does exist and it has access to billions of dollars of funding and research.

The AGW lobby now controls who gets funded, who get published, who gets acclaimed, and who gets demonized. Given their strength and influence how can our policy makers make good energy policy when they are being told only about computer guesses instead of science? In addition how will science recover from their influence particularly with it comes to anthropogenic global warming issues (AGW)?

Another problem is that we can no longer trust magazines like Science, Nature, Scientific American and New Scientist because they are told what to publish and by who.

It also makes it very difficult for the average person to get any information on the latest discoveries by real scientists that contradict what they are being told about elements of AGW like CO2.

Even today there is little scientific support for the man-made global warming hypothesis within the scientific community and those that do so are forced to use junk science to make their cases.

The Rules of Science

Nobel physicist Richard Feynman describes the rules of science:

“In general, we look for a new law by the following process. First, we guess it. Then we compute the consequences of the guess to see what would be implied if this law that we guessed is right. Then we compare the result of the computation to nature, with experiment or experience; compare it directly with observation to see if it works. If it disagrees with experiment it is wrong. It’s that simple statement that is the key to science. It does not make any difference how beautiful your guess is. It does not make any difference how smart you are, who made the guess, or what his name is---if it disagrees with experiment it is wrong.” Dr. Richard Feynman, “The Character of Natural Law”, The MIT Press, 1965, p. 156.

The heart of science then is to propose and test hypotheses by explaining observations, evidence, and data from the real world. Any hypothesis which can’t explain the observations, evidence, and data must be revised or dropped. Please note that this process doesn't involve creation of a consensus.

So, given that the AGW believers do not follow this process, then they must be using something other than science for their process.

Islam and Terrorism - Justifiable?

There is a common challenge from apologists that asks one to find any evidence from the Koran that tells people to commit acts of terror.

How about this one "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly." from Koran 8:60.

It is very clear "strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies." The definition of terrorism is to strike terror into people through some act.

The sneakier apologist will immediately point out that this verse is talking about war. "Them" above refers to infidels, i.e. non-Believers. Given that Islam is divided into two groups one of which is Dar al Harb, the House of War to which belong all unbelievers. Since there is a constant state of 'war' with this group then this verse is always relevant. That the apologist would try and indicate otherwise is the documented tactic of deceptions also fully supported by Islamic source material.

Note that 8:60 is also the most commonly cited verse used to justify terrorism by the terrorist themselves.

Media Still Firmly Behind Climate Scare Tactics

There were two conferences on climate change recently. The first was an "an emergency summit on climate change" that was simply a scare mongering series of sessions from government-funded scientists who fed the media sound bites that none of them bother to check against the actual science and facts. This conference was widely covered by all media groups.

The second was organised by the Heartland Institute under the title "Global Warming: Was It Ever Really A Crisis" This NY event was attended by some very senior and well respected scientists that tore apart the false claims of the "Consensus" and was not covered in many places including the UK and locally.

For what I can only imagine is the belief that scary stories sells news, the issues raised at the NY event like the fact that sea levels are only rising 3mm a year in line with the last 200 years, is ignored. Not news worthy I guess.

So, when all of this finally comes out in the wash and the causes of climate change and the effects are shown to be media pushed myths will the media step up and take responsibility. Will they for example admit responsibility for the loss of jobs due to the ETS schemes?

I doubt it. They will cry foul at the "misinformation they were given." You know the misinformation they accepted without checking the basic facts.

Quick AGW Facts for Sceptics

If you are going to arm yourselves to debate with a 'Believer' you should have the following at hand:

Does adding Co2 to the air make the Earth warmer?

This is the basis for CO2 caps, the ETS and the rabid anti-CO2 push from everywhere. It has also allowed Believers to get the money and power.

1. If CO2 as a greenhouse gas is responsible then the computer models predict a "hot spot" The predicted spot has not been detected.

2. Proper analysis of ice cores shows an 800 year delay between temperature changes and CO2 concentrations changing. More importantly temperatures rise, then CO2 levels increase.

3. CO2 is rising at the moment but temperatures are not, this from reliable satellite data.

4. In the past , when CO2 levels were much higher, the Earth experienced Ice Ages. Adding Co2 to the atmosphere now has far less effect, i.e. doubling does not double the effect, it is a logarithmic scale.

These four facts are enough. AGW Believers will argue that ground based stations show a different picture. Ground based station data is not only unreliable but it comes from GISS and that has been shown to be deliberately manipulated information.

Anything else like ice melting, polar bears drowning, glaciers retreating, sea levels rising are all effects not causes. The root of the whole argument is CO2 and there is no scientific evidence to show a link between CO2 and climate as far as AGW.

Reality does not match the models so it must be something else. In the four points made above it is not Co2 so it must be something else. Scientists have theories about what this might be e.g. a combination of solar and cosmic radiation and changes in the Earth's magnetic field for example. The key point is that it is not CO2.

When you take CO2 out of the equation all that is left is money and power two factors that have ruled the world for as long as there has been both.

Hotels, Pokies, ATMs

In an economic downturn pokies are doing well, and as such so are hotels. They might be down a few meals but pokies spending is up according to reports.

Enter iCash out of Sydney. They provide a device that allows hotels to adjust the fee rates for using an ATM dynamically. This allows them to up the fees as it gets later, as people get drunker and do not want to leave to get cash.

Not only is this unethical and immoral but it must be close to licensed theft. Because fee information is now displayed before a withdrawal is made this allows for such a system to come into being. As usual in this country something is brought in without any concern or thought for how the ripples will spread. It is this kind of narrow view that allows the government to bring in changes that might have some immediate public relations benefit for them but ultimately cause more pain and grief to the public.

As usual, they don't seem to care as long as they get the good publicity when they need it.

Telstra - Want Real Service? Then Pay Extra

There are many comments, jokes and stories about talking to help desks in India. As long as your questions follow the question template then all is well. Remember that these help desks may be supporting multiple companies, there are not a special set of phone answerers for just the single company.

Like many large companies Telstra uses an Indian service to field their inquiries. There have been many people complain about Telstra service, or distinct lack of any, and their problems with dealing with helpers not even living in Australia.

Telstra has the answer, charge you extra to talk with an Australian. This might be copied from trying to get service from an Australian Embassy where getting to an Australian national for help can be a difficult and creative process.

Help desk people tend to be a lot more polite that foreign nationals in an Embassy, I know I worked in one for 5 years. I'm guessing that this latest great idea, after saving humanity, will not cast Telstra in a very good light as far as their customers are concerned.

Beheading - Not Guilty by Reason of Religion

Most people have heard of the case of Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan, the founder of a Muslim-American television station who beheaded his wife.

Did you know that he is a self confessed moderate?
Did you know that under Islam beheading is justified?
Did you know that Muzzammil and his then wife Aasiya Hassan launched the Bridges TV network in 2004, saying they wanted to counter negative stereotypes and media portrayals of Muslims?
Did you know that restoration of honor sanctions violence and killing?

So as far as "Mo" is concerned he is indeed innocent of the crime since his religion teaches him that killing your wife for some real (or imagined) slight is fine. Remember this from a supposed "moderate" Muslim. Moderation is another of those words that are used in a very rubbery way and the wide eyed apologist laps it up.

Punishment for False Claims

I have been peripherally following the case of the rugby individual who allegedly attacked the girl outside her home.

I took note of the reported circumstances, then the history of the father and the family involved and made a mental note that if the DNA came back negative then, given the history that the father and daughter may have colluded to get money from a well known athlete.

At the same time I condemn the culture that says "lets all get wasted by drinking" that seems to pervade some of our sports groups. The tests came back as negative.

Leaving this case alone until further information comes in it raises the issue of false claims and how those making them should be treated. In cases where those making the claim are found to have deliberately made up a story, e.,g. in the case of rape, those making the claims should be given a sentence, and not a suspended one, equivalent to what the accused would have faced if they had committed the crime.

At the moment feral families and individuals are free to make all kinds of claims and are allowed to get away with it. It doesn't matter what reputations are destroyed or how much it costs those defending themselves. In some cases the process has been formalised like in Victoria and soon in South Australia where a commission can take a case, give the accuser all the support and the accused, even when found innocent can get nothing back. This is a very dangerous situation and one becoming more common in Australia.

So to stop all of this and ensure that those making the claim are serious about them, make the punishment for false ones real. False claims of rape, sentenced as a rapist when found to be false. I don;t mean some idiot jury letting a rapist off, I mean where there is direct evidence of false claims by those involved.

All Police in WA Should Quit

Anyone who has seen the video in the case of Matthew Butcher knows that all of the individuals in the clip were obviously resisting arrest and fighting the police. In most societies this is enough, at the minimum, land you in jail. Instead, in Australia, it means that the poor criminals get a "there, there" pat on the back and the police are left feeling that they are no longer protected by the system.

If the system you are trying to protect is not willing to protect you then why even bother. The whole of the police force should tender their resignations and let the courts do the work for themselves. Just the idea that lawyers would no longer have a job is delicious enough. It is just like the way that our soldiers in places like Afghanistan are being put in danger due to desk sitting idiots back here in Australia and their stupid rules of engagement.

The courts are showing that they care more about those breaking the law than those enforcing them. The judges are judicial system are held to no standards and they can not even be removed by the people they are supposed to be protecting and representing.

Given the current trend and decisions like this one criminals will become bolder and bolder. Those serving will be put into more and more danger and the result will be a police force reluctant to do anything because they will not be protected in any way.

But for the current economy and unemployment problems every active police officer in WA should resign in protest.

A Meeting To Far Away - Ideologically

There is a very long document discussing xenophobia, slavery, women's rights, diversity, minorities and other issues. This document is expressed in general terms except for two distinctly obvious cases.

An example of the general language is as follows: "Expresses deep concern at the resurgence of racist and xenophobic violence targeting members of ethnic, religious or cultural communities and national minorities."

Examples of specific targeting also follow. Can you spot the bias?

Expresses deep concern at the practices of racial discrimination against the Palestinian people as well as [Syrian nationals of the occupied Syrian Golan] [other inhabitants of the Arab occupied territories]

Acknowledges that a most disturbing phenomenon is the intellectual and ideological validation of Islamophobia. When it is expressed against migrants it takes the form of religious-ethnic or religious-racial tones, when it is expressed in the form of defamation of religions, it takes cover behind the freedom of expression and when it is expressed in the form of profiling, it hides behind the war against terrorism. Believes that association of terrorism and violence with Islam or any other religion, including through publication of offensive caricatures and making of hate documentaries, would purposely complicate our common endeavours to address several contemporary issues, including the fight against terrorism and the occupation of foreign territories and peoples.

[[Notes with concern] [Seriously concerned at the] instances of defamation of religions, which manifests itself in [projecting negative, insulting and derogatory images of religions and religious personalities,] generalized and stereotypical association of religions, in particular Islam, with violence and terrorism, thus impacting negatively on the rights of individuals belonging to these religions, including Muslim minorities, and exposing them to hatred and discrimination

The common term "African and Asian descent" is used throughout the document.

Not unsurprisingly the conference is chaired by Libya and co-chaired by Iran, Pakistan and Cuba. The document does not mention that genocides in the African continent, and no specific cases of say Christians being targeted, or Buddhist statues being blown up etc. The specifics are only about 'poor' Islam and the 'bully' Israel. Not one mention of how Islam teaches, preaches and implements many of the so called items the conference is against.

As one would expect many Western nations have pulled out of the proposed conference in Geneva and still more are expressing reservations. At the same time Australia will be going to help Rudd get into the security council and get his long sought after UN position when he leaves government.

== UPDATE ==

I just couldn't leave it as was. Durban 2 is a hate-fest against Western nations and a love-fest for Islam and Muslim nations. Since their aim is completely destroy what we consider to be Australia we have no right being there.

Stemming Stem Cells - The Misinformation Train

Stem cell research took a positive jump recently when Obama reversed a Bush decision. Immediately some Christians and Right to Lifers jumped on the bandwagon with the same old tired rhetoric about embryos and how it was wrong to use them for research.

Ignoring the religious implications the most recent and increasing successful source for stem cells is not from embryos but adults, and not the dead kind. The multiplication technologies are also improving so that a small number of stem cells can be turned into a larger number quite quickly.

The majority of the research is no longer focused on where to get the stem cells, even skin cells can be turned into stem cells with the most recent technologies, but rather how to turn them on. The majority of the focus is how to trigger the latent stem cell into say a heart muscle cell, or a heart valve cell, or a nerve cell etc.

It is easy to assign some attribute to research in the name of ethics or morals. Saying that an embryo has a soul for example piles up the emotional content. As the research now shifts away from embryos altogether a new excuse is needed, as soon as many learn that embryo research is diminishing that is, most complainers have not caught up with the latest developments.

The potential of the research is exciting, repairing spinal cords for para and quadriplegics and other currently impossible repairs to different systems within the body. There is however a lot of research required before this becomes commonplace.

There are those who say that this is playing God, but is it any less so than curing cancer or transplanting a heart?

Science No Longer Means Science

Start by visiting the following Web site http://www.oecd.org. It looks good right, concern for the economy, concern for governments and so on.

The OECD however has a secret agenda. They have a Program for International Student Assessment PISA that has a science test. In a recent version of the science test there was a focus on beliefs and the Australian Council for Educational Research chief executive Geoff Masters, the one that implements PISA here said that "the purpose of science courses was to develop a concern for the environment in students."

What this means is that instead of getting the underlying science when it came to environmental sustainability, students were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with statements that included making regular emission checks a condition of using a car, and producing electricity from renewable sources as much as possible even if it increased the cost.

The reason given was that "agreement on these issues indicated a greater sense of responsibility" they say that this correlates with "better scores in the science test." (sic) Ignoring the highly doubtful use of statistical correlation for the moment this is the antithesis of the Scientific Method.

It is all part of the move towards a touchy-feeley education system that moves away from the core educational principles that we used to take for granted. Sadly very few seem to see any problem with this. Worse the result of such weak policies will not be obvious for a number of years.

Democratic Republics - Aren't

Have you ever noticed how countries with the term "Democratic" in it rarely are? Then there are Marxist-Leninist places that have terms like "Socialist", "People's Republic" like Congo, Algeria, Libya and Yemen.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) recently had an election. All the candidates were chosen by the current long term leader. All electoral offices handed over forms that were then dropped into boxes. Not once did pen touch paper. News reports showed military personnel dancing outside of polling booths. This was referred to by the media as a "democratic election."

No, this was a childish farce perpetrated by people behaving like children and the media lapped it up. Not one reporter called it a farce, no one called it anything other than democratic. The correct term for the 'election' is a fantasy production by a crazy dictator. Fully supported by the world press and the world leaders.

I wish that more people owned dictionaries, especially media writers.

Access to Gaza - Always Israel's Fault?

Everyone from Aid personnel to Hillary Clinton are complaining about Israel not giving access to for supplies, some of which could be used to build rockets, into Gaza.

The Israelis are allowing some humanitarian aid and food but currently not building materials and other supplies. The concern is that the wrong kinds of materials can be used to build rockets, bombs and other items that will then immediately be used to attack Israel.

Electrical wiring and batteries can be used in home reconstruction but all too often then find their way in to the hands of Hamas rocket makers.

There is a certain kind of individual who is like a horse with blinders on. They only see the hold up of materials that can be used to rebuild Gaza. This is fair enough in one sense but the same people do not consider the possibility that materials might be used in other ways.

These people ignore history, are ignorant of the aims of groups like Hamas and forget that groups like Hamas control Gaza, not some imaginary beneficent leadership.

Also to date there has not been one comment, from anyone, including Clinton, about how Egypt is also not allowing any materials to cross from their side. What's with that? There are ideologically similar to the occupants of Gaza but do not want to get involved. Why? Is it because they know what the materials might be used for?

As usual our media bias is out in full force. Hamas and Gazans can do no wrong, Israel is the bad guy and Egypt doesn't even come onto the radar screen.

ABC - Murder by Proxy

In a recent ABC report on Tibet a reporter on the ground was talking to some villagers about the issues of Tibet and China. Those being interviewed looked very uncomfortable and kept indicating that the police would be there soon and they did not want to be caught talking to foreign reporters.

The reporter persisted and got his sound bite about how they were not happy with the Chinese occupation of Tibet. With the officials nearing he left.

The name of the village was given in the report and clear shots of the faces of the villagers presented in the report. Given the human rights record of China and the lack of concern for foreign opinion if any of the story gets back to any Chinese official, say through the Chinese Embassy, then the results are predictable and there is a good chance that those villagers will never be seen again.

This has happened before with the ABC where people were afraid for their lives, asked that their faces not be shown, and when they were they were killed or vanished.

Who takes responsibility for this? Certainly not the reporter who is free to put individual and group lives in danger all in the name of the story and the desired sound bite. Not the ABC, they just edit and show the clip. Not the government they allow this kind of story to be presented with challenge and without adding any regulations.

Some might suggest that in this case the responsibility is with the Chinese for taking action based on a report but this is a very thin excuse.

It is time that the media, particularly the ABC, is held responsible for deaths caused by this kind of story. The reporter should also be held accountable. He (or she) is warned what the consequences might be for those being filmed but this is ignored in the hunt for the story. This is personal profit from other's deaths and under different circumstances would be considered at the very least manslaughter.

Members of the media hold some specially protected place in society that gives them rights that others do not and cannot have including the right to commit murder by proxy. It is time that this is stopped.

'Freak Accident' - Not My Responsibility

The report of a death in a school yard was reported as a freak accident. The initial report contained few details. One boy dead, one injured when a sail (sun shade) collapsed at an after sport party in a school.

It sounded too pat and the implication was that somehow the school was at fault or that the shade sail was some how faulty.

Investigation and a later report set out the details. Some lads after winning their game climbed over the school fence went up to the roof and started using a shade sail as a trampoline. Pushed beyond its specs the sail gave way and the boys fell down, one to his death.

I am struggling to imagine how this could be called a "freak accident" I'd be willing to bet large sums of money that this 'accident' would happen each and every time under the same conditions. As soon as the words "shade sail used as a trampoline" were used the term accident and freak had no right to be used in the report.

It was deliberate and predictable to those not imbibing alcohol. I expect to see this story somehow develop into some claim against the school for an unsafe shade sail. The poor boys will be protected as innocents and the blame will be placed everywhere except against their actions. Sadly this is the direction in which Australia society is heading.

Freedom of Speech - Vanishing Act

There is a proposal before the UN that will have a complete ban, as a binding resolution, against any criticism of Islam. Note that the resolution only refers to Islam and the definition of "criticism" is very broad.

Criticism includes any quotation of recognized Islamic works, i.e. you will not be able to quote their own texts. This resolution then will cover telling the truth, exposing the truth and effectively bans and resistance to the expansion of Islam as it works to take over the planet. All nicely sponsored by that bastion of balance and concern for the welfare of all The United Nations.

This means that you will not be able to criticize Islam's treatment of women, their ban on music, their violent jihads, their hate speeches against Israel, or anything else.

Quoting a verse like say 3:27 “Let believers not take infidels for friends in place of the believers; whoever does this shall have nothing left with Allah—unless you but guard yourselves against them, taking precautions” and then saying that this shows that Islam teaches that a Muslim cannot befriend a non-Muslim would be considered "criticism" and potentially be a criminal offense.

The dangers of such a resolution to any non-Muslim is patently obvious and those proposing the resolution, The Arabic League, are fully aware of this.

So I propose a better resolution. "That the UN, as an organization no longer representing the concerns of the world community, be immediately disbanded."

The Killing of Small Businesses

Rudd comes from the world of big business, expensive parties and has a wife who has made a fortune on the policies of the Howard government. Rudd's party has solid roots in the Union movement, the majority of sitting members are or were closely associated with the Unions.

As we have seen over the years unions kill business. They block work, stop imports and exports, ask for more and more benefits without putting much back and they are not concerned if a company folds as long as the unions get their own way.

In June the Rudd government will re implement the "unfair dismissal laws" and processes for small businesses. Many small businesses are being forced to close right now because of the current financial crisis. The law works as follows:

  1. If a company wants to get rid of an employee who is not performing they will need to pay to seek advise on the process.
  2. They then face a process where they are encouraged to pay off the employee.
  3. If they hold firm they have to go to court to defend their decision.

Sounds easy right? The problem is the cost. The first part costs about $10000 in legals fees, the second is typically 12-13 weeks of pay and the third is an additional $10000 to $50000 in costs to defend themselves.

The process is designed to give the sacked employee an additional bonus that works out to an average of $10000. The process is also designed to discourage taking the case to step 3.

This means that a company either needs to keep a useless or disruptive employee or budget 10-20 thousand for each one. It doesn't take a genius to see that the reintroduction of this process, under the current circumstances and economic times will force many more small business out of business. It will also have people think twice about setting up a new small business. It could also means that employment becomes a contract process, or one with high turnover during probation periods.

Labor governments have never been very supportive of the small businessman.

Calling Opaque Clear - Gitmo Glossing

"Transparency in Government" is one of those terms that always means the exact opposite of what the words mean. Every new hopeful uses this term to try and convince the population that they have some kind of ethics. Perhaps they do but for some reason they must get some kind of injection as soon as they are elected because it is the very first thing to go.

Kevin Rudd promised it and immediately hid everything behind a screen of rhetoric. Obama fell to it a scant few days after being elected. Guantanamo Bay Naval Base or Gitmo holds terrorists and Obama is going to close it. He, or his representatives, are also holding back a recent report that looked at over 100 detainees that were released and tracked their recidivism rate.

It turns out that just under half, as tracked so far, returned to militant Islamic practices like blowing up people with bombs and leading Al Qaeda cells. Remembering that these were the ones they released so far, presumably because they had poor evidence on them, that leaves the rest.

Those still remaining in Gitmo are the ones they believe or can prove to be terrorists and they are going to be released. There is a high level of certainty that most of these will go back to doing what they do so well, blowing up innocent civilians. Why are they being released? Simple, the 'Do Gooders' say they have not been treated fairly under due process of law.

So perhaps this is why governments are never transparent. They don't want us to worry about their terrible decisions, the ones that put our lives in greater danger through abject mismanagement and folding to the opinions of wolly headed people who have no base in reality.

Climate Change Denial Syndrome

In the UK at the moment there is a push to have an opinion declared a mental illness. Under the proposal anyone who denies anthropogenic global warming (AGW) will be declared to have the climate change denial syndrome, or global warming deniers syndrome, or some similar term.

There is not much to say about this other than to shake one's head, declare science dead in the UK, and move on to more sensible discussions.

Our Universities are For All (Foreigners)

There has been some press recently about how poor our English is and how we are getting worse at Mathematics. It is probably just as well then that it is getting harder and harder to get into an Australian university, as an Australian entrant that is.

Foreign students are a good business for Universities. They get funds from the government and funds from all foreign students. Foreign students pay cash, there is no Hex. Foreign populations in our universities averages out at about 40% and in some cases exceeds 50%.

In general foreign students don't, even if their work is not up to standard. This means that standards are dropping and that our degrees are not worth as much as they should be. It also means that internationally our reputations are also falling. Some universities have even been caught out in this but nothing ever really happens.

So how can we meet the demand for say maths teachers in high schools when there are less and less Australians able to enter university because there are some fewer places? Easy, we import foreign teachers of course, just ask Kevin.

Piracy on the High Seas

Where are the likes of Puccini when you need them, or should that be more of a musical team like G&S. We have the perfect opportunity for a new comic opera called the Somali Pirates.

There are currently a comic number of International warships of all types cruising around off the coast of Somalia trying not to run into each other. At the same time Somalia pirates are still capturing ships to hold for ransom. The individual countries look for statues on piracy in their books and not finding one helplessly do nothing.

Countries like the UK, and probably Australia don't attack because any pirates they capture will have to brought back home. There they will get nice free legal support, free housing and will be finally let off and allowed to stay under the welfare system.

OK, stop for a moment. The rules about piracy have been around, for all nations, for centuries. The International Court has ruled on piracy more than any other type of case. It is International, not an individual country's law.

The approach is clearly defined. Hunt down and sink all pirate ships. Any captured pirates are hung from the nearest equivalent of a yard arm. The Port of Eyl from which most of the ships operate and benefit from the piracy are bombarded out of existence. This is common maritime law that any decent captain should know by heart.

So why isn't it happening? Nations States have become internally weak. They have become undermined by the left and those of woolly headed liberal minds. "Pirates are just misunderstood," "If we talk to them they will eventually see our side of the problem/issue."

Piracy is also a nice way to measure world order the higher the piracy the less the order. The nations of the world has backed away from keeping basic order on the planet. I'll give you a hint, which 57 nation block currently controls the UN? What group does Somalia identify with?

Cricket in Pakistan - *Update-2*

The recent attack on Sri Lankan cricketers highlights yet again the serious problems in Pakistan.

Not a single attacker was injured but a number of policemen were killed. Some news feeds were indicating that the attackers were organized in a similar manner to the Mumbai attacks. If so there is strong evidence (unconfirmed) that Pakistani intelligence was involved in the Mumbai attack.

If so the question then becomes was this attack also planned by the same groups. If so then were the policemen then setup to be killed. If perhaps what were their religious associations. One was obviously a Sikh based on the dress of the mourning family.

If it turns out that non of those killed were Muslim or if no Muslim policemen were assigned then that would be very strong evidence. That the Pakistani authorities are claiming to have no leads is also somewhat telling.

The attackers did not appear to be well trained, their military craftsmanship was poor, so there had to be some other reason that none of them were injured, killed or captured.

It it worth thinking about at least.

== Update ==

The first two days there was high level security and the Pakistani team bus travelled with the Sri Lankan one.

On the day of the attack there was little security and the Pakistani team bus did not travel with the Sri Lankan one.

Footage of the attackers shows no scanning of the surroundings and an almost casual approach and departure. They left unchallenged and footage showed then casually traveling to pickup and departure points. No attacker was caught.

The police protection melted away on attack and they were not armed or very lightly so.

You can make your own conclusions but all available evidence points to a pre-setup attack, known in advance to authorities and those controlling the movements of the Pakistani players. The attackers acted as if they knew there would be no resistance and their casual departure only reinforces this.

I predict that none of the attackers will be caught of if any are produced they will not be any of those actually involved in the attack.

== Update 2 ==

The blame game has started on this issue. In no particular order these include:

The Israel-Palestine conflict caused it.
George Bush caused it (actually I think that should read Muhammad).
It was Tamil Tigers.
Its all Israel's fault (for existing).
Global Warming

After careful consideration and applying the same logic that those above have used the real culprit has been identified.

It was the Easter Bunny

(In reality it was Muslims who did it to gain greater control in Pakistan to spread Islam even further with that country, but don't tell the people who came up with the opinions expressed above)

If all the Ice Melted

Before this discussion starts we need to lay down some basic facts.

The oceans occupy 361 million square kilometers ( 361 x 106 km²) of the Earth’s surface.
The volume of ice in Antarctica is approximately 25,300,000
km³
(Area = 13,829,430 km2 & average thickness is 1.829 km)
The volume of ice in Greenland is about approximately 2,500,000 km³
Approximate amount of ice on the whole planet would be about 30,000,000 km³
One metric tonne of water has a volume of one cubic meter (1 tonne water ≡ 1 m³)
One gigatonne of water has a volume of one billion cubic meters, or one cubic kilometer.(1 Gt water ≡ 1 km³)

Of course, one gigatonne of ice has a greater volume than one gigatonne of water. But it will still have a volume of 1 km³ when it melts
.

So then how many gigatonnes of ice must melt to raise the oceans one millimeter (10-3 meters)?

1 mm / (2.78 microns / Gt) = 10-3 m / (2.78 x 10-6 m / Gt) = 360 Gt
.
(From 1 GT gives: 1 km³ / 361 x 106 km² = 2.78 x 10-6 meters = 2.78 microns)

So 360 km³ of water will raise the oceans 1 mm.

The average density of glacial (packed) ice is about 850 kg per cubic meter
so for any ice to water conversions we multiply by about 0.85

So 30,000,000 km³ gives about 25.5 million Gigatonnes of Water.

So if all the ice on the planet melted this would give a total rise of 70.8 meters.

How bad is it for us then?

Velicogna (Science, vol 311, 2006) used time varying gravity measurements from the GRACE satellites estimated that Antarctica was losing 152 km3 of ice per year. This is equivalent to 0.4 millimeters of global sea-level rise per year. One hundred years at this rate would add a massive 4cm to the oceans. (Deliberately selected because Science is so biased towards AGW)

It would take about 200,000 years for all the ice to melt, assuming no ice ages etc. in the mean time.

Global Warming and ETS

I always find it fascinating to see how people try to rationalize their mistakes and the way that nature just does not seem to play along with others.

The powers that be are now telling us that due to the global downturn there is less manufacturing and so less CO2 pollution. This means that we can all breathe easy for at least two years before we need to get anxious about implementing the ETS.

In other worse any convenient excuse will do to delay admitting the anthropogenic global warming is a myth.

I had to laugh at the global warming demonstration that had to be canceled by snow ind and ice at the planned location. Seems that even Mother Nature is not amused.

Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch (HRW), the New York-based non-profit, has for many years been relentlessly critical of Israel, often putting the state under a microscope applied to no other country or movement. While Human Rights Watch does condemn Palestinian suicide bombings and rocket attacks against Israel, it also repeatedly labels all Israeli attempts to prevent such attacks “war crimes” and “collective punishment,” thereby delegitimizing Israel’s sovereign right of self-defense.

And because a country that does not have the right to defend itself does not have the right – or the means – to exist, it is precisely Israel’s right to exist that Human Rights Watch is really attacking.
There are a number of organisations whose names do not reflect what they really stand for and one of these is the so called Human Rights Watch (HRW).

This is an organisation that condemns large-scale operations like the recent Israeli response to Hamas rocket fire from Gaza. That might be fine but they also condemn pinpoint attacks against terrorists and the Israeli checkpoints that successfully prevent infiltration of suicide bombers into Israel and it even passive defense measures like the security fence which also helps to such prevent infiltration.

They even condemn Israel for cutting back on the electricity and fuel that it supplies to Gaza. Somehow they believe that Israel is obligated to supply power to the Hamas government that runs the machine shops that build the missiles that are fired into Israel.

HRW went the extra mile and falsely accused Israel of launching “indiscriminate attacks in violation of the laws of war” and other charges this from an organisation who cites principles of “rigorous, objective investigations” and “even-handedness and accuracy.”

So why would and organisation be so anti-Semitic? The answer is the senior staff they hire. Many have a documented history of extreme anti-Israel partisanship. This means that the ability of HRW to be either accurate or evenhanded is compromised.

Joe Stork the new Deputy Director has a long and particularly nasty anti Israel history that can be summarized as clearly denying Israel’s legitimacy, denying its right to exist, and both favors and has even planned for its destruction. Unless HRW drop this person from their ranks it deserves no credibility when it comes to Israel.

Gaza Donations

Clinton vows that no donations to Gaza will go to Hamas, a few other countries e.g. good old Australia, say similar things. When I saw this headline it took me a long time to stop laughing.

Consider the facts. Hamas was voted in as Palestine's elected rulers, i.e. the current government that controls Gaza is Hamas. Hamas has a history of using and abusing civilians even to the point of shooting them in the legs so they won't leave their posts as human shields. Hamas has regularly entered UN operated distribution facilities and just taken what they want.

So how is it possible to circumvent the government and the real rulers of Gaza and not keep the money out of the hands of Hamas. Saudi Arabia has already give $1B to rebuild Gaza and the rest of the world is pledging another $1B all for an estimated $1.5B rebuilding. Math aside all of these promises are empty. They may as well be saying that rain falling is only for the plants, not for the ground they grow in.

The really, really sad part about this story is that people like Clinton and others like her actually believe what they are saying, contrary to all available exvidence and history.

Durban Conference

On the 20-24th of April in Durban there will be a follow-up on the 2001 conference on Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. This was a UN sponsored event and the whole of the conference was used to promote virulent anti-Israel demonization.

That event, like the one in April has been hijacked and is controlled by the Arabic League. All the key roles and positions come from this group and the US has pulled out. Australia, who attended the first one, is at the time of writing still sitting on the fence. While some may think that Australia will follow the US there are still enough anti-Jewish left-wing crazies to ensure that someone from here attends but that remains to be seen.

The purpose of the upcoming meeting is to f
ocus on implementation of the 2001 resolution, which provided the blue print for the NGO "Durban Strategy." This is the strategy of delegitimizing Israel as "an apartheid regime" through international isolation based on the South African model. This plan is driven by UN-based groups as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) like Human Rights Watch, which exploit the funds, slogans and rhetoric of the human rights movement.

On this basis a series of political battles have been fought in the UN and in the media. These include the myth of the Jenin "massacre," the separation barrier, the academic boycott, and the church-based anti-Israel divestment campaign.

All because Israel remains the only non-Muslim thorn-in-the-side country in a Muslim region.

So why would Australia even be considering attending? Easy, Rudd still wants Australia to become a member of the UN Security Council and he wants to ensure his personal acceptance in the UN fold after he leaves office.

Folding to the Pressure

Greater Union have become part of the Dhimmi culture (Second class citizens under Muslim rule) folding to the threats of violence over the movie The Combination. It is about the violence in the Lebanese community in Australia. Any criticism of such groups triggers violent outrage, no matter how much truth is contained in the movie.

This is a standard tactic, respond to truth with violence. The weak Dhimmis fold and the problem goes away. The real problem here is of course cowardice and the folding in front of the slightest amount of pressure. The violence is aimed at suppressing the truth so that activities are allowed to continue.

While not really Greater Union's responsibility and their actions are based on a business issue, i.e. violence will keep their customers away, the government and the authorities should be immediately stamping down on such actions. Sadly the history of such cases in places like NSW is that the police stay away to "clam the situation down." It must be wonderful to be a citizen and know that your police force, the ones who are supposed to protect you, would rather keep out of such situations.

They did the same thing in riots in the past and this looks like it will be the trend for the future and the average person on the street, or in the cinema, will be required to look after themselves.

Why The Little Guns

Have you ever noticed that in just about every TV series, fiction or real life, that in just about every case where the 'good guys' are battling with the 'bad guys' there is a mismatch in weaponry.

The 'good guys' always have pistols and the others usually have shotguns, rifles, machine guns or even heavier weapons. Why? Is it because the powers that be don't trust their people to have anything bigger than a pistol? Yes, there is the local equivalent of SWAT, but they are an after-the-fact force, typically not on scene when things start or happen.

Given that the bad guys seem to have the better weaponry I'd hate to be the regular office on the street be it regular police or, drug enforcement or any other branch.
