Mohammad Khatami - Moderate Muslim

At last we can use a individual as the measure of a 'moderate Muslim.' The Mainstream press and other advocates are referring to ex President Mohammad Khatami of Iran as a "moderate" and as a "reformer."

This man, giving talks in Australia at La Trobe University, has a long history that can now be used to set the standard for a moderate.

He was the Minister for Culture and Islamic Guidance during the 1988 massacre of 30,000 people. As President he gave the order to suppress protesting students in 1998. He approved terrorist attacks and the attack on the opposition parties and people seemed to disappear during his time if they criticized the government.

A Canadian journalist was arrested, raped , tortured and killed in 2003. He banned newspapers, harassed and killed religious minorities. He persecuted anyone criticizing Islam and implemented the Clerics are the supreme authority. Those who did not lost their civil rights. In other words he systematically abused what many would call basic human rights.

So this is our standard for a moderate Muslim and what we are hoping that all Muslims will be and demonstrate.

At the same time it also highlights how many Middle Eastern studies departments have sprung up in Australian universities as a response to the 'generous' donations from Saudi Arabia. The heads of these departments are more often than not, from the Middle East and are Muslims. These individuals fully support people like Mohammad Khatami and are active in the creation of 'equality' and religious vilification commissions and tacitly support the introduction if Sharia law and the spread of Islam within Australia.

Ironically our leadership and many from the socialist left see no problems with this.
