The Antarctic is melting at an unprecedented rate, this will raise the water levels, change the climate and it 'proves' the skeptics are wrong.
These were announcements a few days back and I have been waiting for the analysis, its in. The underlying data and analysis came from our favorite data manipulator Mann (Hockey Stick).
The paper was written by Professor Eric Steig and announced in Nature. He apparently had noticed a warming in West Antarctica that previous researchers had missed through poor analysis and this indicated a warming so strong that it more than made up for the cooling in East Antarctica. The co author of the paper was Mann.
The truth was not that the previous researchers had overlooked the data but instead ignored data from four stations producing obviously bad data that did not meet quality control standards. Steig et. al. used these bad data sources to make their claims.
